According to the organization, the recall affects smoke and carbon monoxide detectors sold by CHZHVAN brand with the following model number:
The detectors are made of white plastic and measure about four inches in diameter. The back of the detectors contain three slots for AAA batteries, along with a printed label that includes the model numbers, instructions and battery specifications for the product.
The recalled products were sold exclusively on Amazon from August 2023 to January 2024 and were sold for $18 to $59 by China-based Haikouhuidishangmaoyouxiangongsi.
According to the CPSC, there have been five reports of the affected detectors failing to alarm in the presence of smoke. The firm involved has not responded to either the CPSC or consumers and has been uncooperative with the recall.
