Pittsburgh Pirates' veteran Andrew McCutchen reached another career milestone in Sunday's 9-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
In the ninth inning, McCutchen, affectionately nicknamed "Cutch," launched a slider into the left-field seats for his 300th career MLB homerun.
“I’m happy that’s over with. I’ve been sitting on that one for a while,” McCutchen said after the game.
The 37-year-old former National League MVP is playing in his 16th season in the MLB.
With career homerun #300 in the books, Cutch also became just the 13th player in league history to tally 2,000 hits, 400 doubles, 45 triples, 300 homers and 200 career stolen bases.
Sunday's homerun was also the first big fly for McCutchen since August 22nd of last season.
“I know it's been weighing on him,” said manager Derek Shelton. “... If you saw the reaction in our dugout, just how much he means to our group that they were so excited for him.”
He also joined legends Willie Stargell and Ralph Kiner as the only Pirates players to ever hit 300 career homeruns.
