JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Collegiate Baseball League's Paul Carpenter Capital Advisors organization is ready to return to baseball.
PCCA is coming off a regular season JCBL title last season. The team returns a majority of its pitching staff from last year's squad. Now, the team is adding a catcher from Oklahoma State.
But, PCCA--and the rest of the JCBL--can't start their season on the regularly-scheduled day of June 2 because of COVID-19.
Coach Taylor Sheriff says its been a trying offseason.
"It's tough. It's unchartered waters for everybody involved," Sheriff said.
But, JCBL Commissioner Don Stanton tells WJAC-TV that the league hopes to play a season--at some capacity--this summer. That's good news for baseball players and fans.
The league is receiving increased interest from players throughout Pennsylvania and the rest of the country.
"The league has a real chance ... to be as competitive as it has ever been," Sheriff said.
*Reminder: the 2020 AAABA Tournament is canceled.*
