The air quality in parts of Philadelphia was being checked Wednesday after huge junkyard fire broke out Tuesday night.

The massive black smoke plume could be seen for miles as 100 firefighters responded to the fire.

The fire caused delays and cancelations for riders of Amtrak and SEPTA.

City officials warned residents in nearby neighborhoods to avoid going outside, and if so, wear a mask and close their windows.

The city’s health department has dispatched inspectors to collect air samples to assess air quality and potential for any threat.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
