Idlewild & SoakZone and Kennywood will be closing for the year on Sept. 7, park officials announced Thursday.

Kennywood officials say they will not be holding their annual holiday-themed events this year either, like Holiday Lights or Phantom Fright Nights.

“While this season has been far different from any other, all of us at Idlewild & SoakZone are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of our loyal Guests and dedicated Team Members,” officials wrote. “We are so glad we could safely welcome Guests back this summer, and provide families with a little bit of normalcy during this challenging time.”

Park officials say the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 in the fall played a role in the decision.

They say they’re looking forward to a return in 2021.

“Our entire team is already hard at work planning an unforgettable season for 2021, and we ca't wait to welcome you back to the Park in the upcoming year.”
