Authorities with the Clearfield Regional Police Department say a man is behind bars after he allegedly shot himself over the weekend and tried to blame the incident on another individual.

Police say early Sunday morning, officers were dispatched to Penn Highlands Clearfield for reports of a male with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Authorities identified the man as 34-year-old Brandon Hutson Sr., of Clearfield.

Police say hospital staff told officers that Hutson was "uncooperative and aggressive," and allegedly claimed that he had been shot by another man near East 4th Street in the borough.

Investigators say Hutson was also "extremely aggressive" with officers and provided "limited information."

Upon further investigation, police learned that Hutson had shot himself in the leg while inside his Market Street apartment.

Police say the bullet was recovered from the apartment building, and officers seized multiple firearms from Hutson's possession.

According to online court records, Hutson faces a variety of charges, including illegal firearms possession and felony aggravated assault.

He is being held at the Clearfield County Prison on $100,000 bail.
