REYNOLDSVILLE - An additional flight to Pittsburgh International Airport from Jefferson County will soon be available for passengers.
Southern Airways announced it'll be adding a midday flight to Pittsburgh from DuBois Regional Airport (DUJ) starting Thursday.
Airport Manager Bob Shaffer said there will now be flights to Pittsburgh every two hours on weekdays.
Shaffer said the change was made due to feedback from flyers and hopes it will help increase ridership.
"We originally had started with three flights to Baltimore and three to Pittsburgh, but quickly found out it's about two to one passenger going to Pittsburgh versus Baltimore," Shaffer said. "The people in the community have told us and have spoken and said Pittsburgh is the destination."
Since switching to Southern Airways in January, Shaffer said DUJ went from 150 passengers per month in January to 250 passengers in April.
Southern Airways also announced changes coming to the Johnstown Airport.
Three flights a day to Washington Dulles in Virginia will be switching to three flights a day to Baltimore-Washington.
