JOHNSTOWN - 1st Summit Bank has bought the naming rights to the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown.

The deal, announced Tuesday morning, is for $720,000 over 10 years.

The 67-year-old building will be known as 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial.

The new logo will be on the ice and the signs outside the arena before the Johnstown Tomahawks’ home opener in mid-October.

One big concern from veterans’ groups was that the words “War Memorial” stay in the name somehow.

Marty Kuhar, chairman of the arena's veterans committee, said his group “happy with the new name.”
